Can you 3D Design as a Hobby?
The answer is of course, yes, yes… YAS!!! The surge in the interest of 3D design and printing in the past few years has led to many people adopting it as a hobby. A creative does not need to be someone with incredible design skills, you can use a computer and mouse to be as expressive in your creativeness as you want using 3D software. This has opened the doors for many people who seek to solve everyday problems, with their own unique approach to design. I use Autodesk Fusion 360 because it is a free software for hobbyists, and it also has a bunch of different capabilities. Anyone can be an inventor and I find this very exciting! As a hobbyist, the 3d printing world is like a playground filled with so many avenues to explore and you can 3D design something tailored to your specific needs in your home. The possibilities for a hobbyist are endless, the sky is the limit – and you can design the world around you. It can literally be as simple as wanting to design a coat hanger that can be put up by the entrance of your door. One day you may decide to design a prototype that you think will help solve a specific problem or design flaw…. why not present it to a company… there is nothing stopping you? 3D designing is cost effective- you are pretty much just spending your time in the beginning learning the free software and finding your stride. After that you can take the leap and begin investing in a printer or find a business or someone who owns a 3D printer to do the printing for you. You do not need to worry about owning a 3D printer. The fact that this way of design is so accessible to anyone brings about the opportunity for great invention and innovation- even if it is just for yourself.
